WAITING ON A WOMAN

FADE IN.

FAMILY ROOM [Grandpa is bundled up in boots, jacket, hat and gloves, standing patiently after cleaning off the car. He alternately glances out the door, at his boots and over at grandma, who is still seated at the dining table, chatting away. I walk over to talk to him.]

ME: Taking off, eh?
GRANDPA: Yep.
ME: You warm?
GRANDPA [glances at grandma]: Yep.
ME: Want me to go get grandma?
GRANDPA [turns his gaze from grandma back outside] : No. I figure I’ve spent the better part of 40 years waiting on that woman. I figure another 15 minutes won’t kill me.

FADE OUT.
